As you can surely tell from our photos, we are not professional photographers. We are shutterbugs at best. We began posting a daily photo on our family website in April 2005 and then launched juxtapose seven months later.

Our current camera is a Nikon D90. Visit the tags page to see a full list of cameras, lenses, and other gear that we use.

For post-processing we tend to use the GIMP for editing and ufraw for processing Nikon RAW files.

This web site runs entirely on open source software. The site itself is built using Ruby on Rails as the web application framework. We have adopted Ruby on Rails at my workplace and this is my first personal project in Rails. Other open source technologies used to power this photoblog include Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP.
